The Birds of Cackle Creek
We source vibrant, full-feathered birds bred specifically for hard flushes, sustained speed, and strong wild instincts. Here are the three species we release on the farm.

Ringneck Pheasant
Vibrant, full-feathered rooster and hen pheasants bred for strong stamina and hard flushes.

Chukar Partridge
Compact, explosive upland game birds that covey tightly and test quick target acquisition.

Bobwhite Quail
Fast-flushing, tight-holding little game birds that explode from cover in coveys — a favorite for quick shots and dog work.

Safety & Requirements
A few ground rules keep every hunt safe and enjoyable. Review these before your visit — all hunters must check in at the clubhouse first.
No Game License Required
Because Cackle Creek operates as a registered game bird preserve, hunters do not need a state small game license or pheasant stamp to hunt released birds on our grounds.
Shotgun & Ammunition Rules
Shot sizes 6, 7, and 8 are recommended. Shot sizes 4 and 5 are prohibited. Break-open or plugged guns preferred.
Blaze Orange Required
A minimum of a blaze orange hat and vest is required in all active fields at all times. Safety is our absolute priority.
Eye & Ear Protection
Protective eyewear and hearing protection are strongly encouraged for every hunter in the field at all times.
Guide Dogs & Bird Cleaning
Guide & Bird Dog Service
Hunt behind an experienced handler and seasoned pointers or flushers who know every ditch line, thicket, and transition zone on the property. Great for hunters without their own canine partner.

Bring Your Own Dog
Watching your own dog work switchgrass and point birds is the heart of upland hunting. Bring your pointers, flushers, and retrievers at no additional fee — clean fields with natural scenting conditions.
Bird Cleaning Service
Don't want to clean your own birds? Our staff will field-dress, pluck, and package your harvest so it's ready for the cooler or the freezer. Available as an add-on for any hunt.
Schedule Your Hunt Date
Select a field, an open date and slot, and your party details. We'll contact you to confirm bird numbers and field reservation.
